Singapore Grand Prix
3-5 October will see the main event beginning at British Summer Time on race day.
Real-time commentary available on radio channels and BBC Sport.
Practice Session Summary
The team's Fernando Alonso set the pace in front of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and reigning champion in first practice for the Marina Bay race.
The British team's drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris finished the practice in fifth and sixth.
The young Australian was over two tenths speedier than his teammate.
Alonso was a tenth and a half in front of Leclerc and over a quarter of a second quicker than Verstappen.
Ferrari's seven-time champion was fourth fastest.
Weekend Outlook
It is not expected that the Silverstone-based team will be contenders for P1.
However, the team are optimistic of a strong showing on a tight circuit that is better matched to their car, which excels when plenty of downforce are required.
Two-time champion Fernando is also renowned as a street circuit master, and typically performs well on the night race venue.
However he was likely running a lighter load or a higher engine mode than his opponents, or a combination, to post the fastest lap.
Practice Conditions
Fellow driver Canadian racer was a significant margin slower in the lower order.
The Canadian had problems with his driving position early in the session and was also evaluating experimental parts.
FP1 in Singapore is not indicative of conditions later in the weekend as it is held in daylight in the daytime, while qualifying and the race are run after dark.
Title Battle
Piastri has an advantage over Norris by a solid margin with the final stretch left entering the event in the Lion City.
McLaren are poised to clinch the constructors' championship on the weekend.
Sole scenario they can miss out in Singapore is if the Silver Arrows beat them by over thirty or Ferrari achieve that by a similar margin.
Red Bull Update
The energy drink brand's team are hopeful of a good performance after recent successes in the previous rounds ahead of this Grand Prix.
They were relieved when light rain occurring ahead of FP1 stopped by the point the machines took to the track on a track that had remained dry.
Motorsport adviser Red Bull's advisor said ahead of practice that they needed a clear session to get underway on understanding their set-up for the weekend.
